Lekan

 

Lekan made his introduction on the French music scene the rewarding of a new style: "the Frakapen", hybrid between the crunk and hip hop mixed with rhythms of Nago warriors and percussion of gwo - ka, on beats Americans.   Born in France, he is native to Guadeloupe and Africa, a yoruba father, giving it an international dimension which it operates perfectly in his single "to our million".

 

It draws its influences from an eclectic universe with such artists as Otis redding, Wilson Pickett, passing by Caribbean artists or Cat Steven, ade, Fela, King sunny and Simon and Garfungel.

 

At the age of 14 years, surrounded by personalities as Daddy Mory, Poetic lover, Harmony, Mr Thomas and Jean-Michel Sissoko, Lekan is interested in singing and provides some benefits during school events.  Later, he participated in a concert with choir Australian "Boat People" under the direction of Jean-Paul Wabotai.

 

But it is in 2000 than the career of Lekan starting really with an encounter that will shake up his life.  He met Dany Brown, producer, Director and artistic director who comes from New York.

 

Dany Brown decides to take charge and introduced him to American musicality of RnB to Hip Hop without forgetting the New-Jack and the Soul.

 

 From this moment, the artistic life of Lekan takes another dimension; Its producer D.B worked for several years on his voice, his style and his ability to master the rhythm. It was at this time that develops Frakapen, a style tailored! 

 

His career was launched and Lekan starts its first performances: in 2001, he performed at the 'Golden arrow' in Paris with Nefast. In 2005, it’s in Évry-sur-seine during the concert Angel Eyes that it carries out a new scene with Nefast.

 

In 2009, it is present at the investiture of Obama concert organized by Taillasson-black Associates for mayor of Argenteuil. May 21, 2010, he participated in the commemoration of the abolition of slavery "in the ‘‘à l’inattendu’’ (unexpected) in Paris. In April 2011, it performs a delivery off on stage at the Printemps de Bourges

 

In May 2011, Curial animation Centre with Issa Brown and guests.   And in 2013, it is the realization of his hopes; He signed with the label "Daswing Productionz Uk" for his first album.  Output expected by the end of the year. 

 

Lekan is an original artist to the clear diction and analytical rhetoric who mastered its flow.  His lyrics, a bit provocative and revolutionary, are an allegory to the human condition in society. But far from being heavy or shocking, they are full of humor and generosity.
